The protective hood is designed to increase the safety of firefighters from a critical risk factor: exposure to hazardous gasses and chemicals in the air they breathe. Thanks to wearable technology, the hood is able to alert its wearer of dangerous situations so that they can take action to protect themselves. The hood is made with 3D knitting technology, which allows for the creation of a well-fitting shape in just one piece, eliminating the need for uncomfortable seams. Different knit structures are proposed to best serve the needs of each part of the head. Finally, the project explores how future advancements in technology could make the product even more convenient and efficient.
